Found this on Pinterest. Made some today! Paint is still wet and they need some ageing/distressing. I used the hot glue gun to create texture on the horns and substituted in paper towel rolls. www.pinterest.com/pin/84864774… Thank you for the wonderful idea!
An idea occurs to me that with nimble fingers, a thinner board, and a glue gun with a fine tip you could use a similar method for "copper" tubing on the cheap for Steampunk stuff. Or anything that requires attractive-but-non-functional "flexible" tubing , really. Or, if one was horribly clever, they could run flexline for air tubing through it for something... The possibilities are nicely endless.
Not my intention to hijack your tutorial, it's lovely on its own, it's just given me an idea of how to create more than just horns using the same general method. I'll need to try it later.
Glad to have added to your idea, then. A box in no place for a curious mind to live~.
I have played around with the idea a little, I just need to get around to actually finishing something with it and posting results. I'll make a point to link back here when I do. Maybe somebody else will see a use for this method.
